How to quickly identify and respond to membrane flux decline？

Flux decline is mostly caused by fouling or blockage. First, perform physical backwashing. If the flux restored, the issue was likely reversible fouling. If the backwash is ineffective, proceed with chemical cleaning tailored to the membrane material: an alkaline wash to remove organic matter, or an acid wash to dissolve inorganic scale. The flux recovery rate after cleaning should be ≥90%. Otherwise, check the membrane's integrity or consider replacement.
