Membrane-Based Zero Liquid Discharge for Industrial Wastewater

Jiangsu Jiuwu Hi-Tech, as the leading enterprise in the field of ceramic membranes in China's membrane industry, was invited to participate in the Guangdong Water Exhibition. R&D engineer Zhang Chun delivered a keynote speech titled "Application of Membrane Integration Technology in the Recovery and Resource Utilization of Pulp and Paper Wastewater," introducing Jiuwu's process and related cases in the field of industrial wastewater.

Breaking Traditional ZLD Mode to Reduce Construction and Operation Costs

In recent years, the company has accumulated rich design and engineering application experience in zero liquid discharge (ZLD) of papermaking wastewater, metallurgical wastewater, and printing and dyeing wastewater based on mature and complete membrane integration technology. Especially in the field of ZLD technology for wastewater, the company has applied for a total of 33 Chinese patents, including 7 granted invention patents, and has established a core patent protection group that includes the development of special membrane materials, as well as the resource utilization process and application equipment for waste salt and concentrated brine.

Advantages of Membrane-Based Industrial Wastewater ZLD Technology

Traditional zero liquid discharge has drawbacks such as high project investment, high operating costs, the generation of large amounts of waste salt, high third-party governance costs of waste salt—which enterprises and governments cannot afford—and even serious pollution from waste salt.

Compared with traditional ZLD methods, Jiuwu's membrane-based industrial wastewater zero liquid discharge technology uses advanced low-cost membrane integration technology to achieve ZLD of sewage, greatly reducing the amount of evaporated water and significantly lowering construction and operation costs. Additionally, it utilizes salt ion allocation and nanofiltration technology to separate sodium chloride and sodium sulfate in high-concentration brine, respectively recovering and utilizing the two salts, reducing the amount of waste salt by more than 95%.

The wastewater treatment solution using membranes and membrane integration technology will be one of the mainstreams of future wastewater treatment and emission reduction, injecting technological momentum into achieving the "dual carbon" goal. In the future, Jiuwu will continue to focus on membrane technology research and development, accelerating the promotion of green transformation in the field of industrial water treatment, and helping China's water treatment industry reach a higher level.
